Dana Maurice Connor, the Dapper Bandit from Va., wanted for bank robberies in New York City
A lot of people take the train or bus from D.C. to visit, tour or shop in New York City.
But not many go to the Big Apple to rob banks.
That's what the FBI says one man is doing. He's believed to be from Virginia and he's being dubbed the "Dapper Bandit" because of what he wears when he robs the banks.
The FBI says Dana Maurice Connor has targeted banks in primo locations: Park Avenue, West 57th and Broadway.
And he may be commuting from Northern Virginia.
He looks like a well-dressed businessman, wearing a suit and button-down shirt.
But he's wanted by the FBI for armed robbery.
The FBI says Connor, 52, has robbed 10 banks in Manhattan since September. The most recent two days after Christmas.
They say he walks in, hands the teller a note--and at least one time brandishing a handgun--thenleaves with the loot.
While not disclosing specifics, the FBI thinks Connor may be living in Virginia and taking a bus or riding Amtrak up the 95 corridor to New York City to commit his crimes.
Court records listed Connor living at one point in a neighborhood in Dumfries, but no one ABC7 talked to there today recognized him.
The FBI says Connor, a convicted felon with a 20-year rap sheet, is 5-foot-7, 210 pounds and has a tattoo on his chest with the words "Moe Love"'
Authorities say he may look disarmingly dapper, but he's really armed and dangerous.
So far, no one has been hurt--and the FBI says for all the miles Connor's put in, he's only gotten about $10,000. But he is armed and they're offering a reward. So if you see connor, give the FBI a call.
