MARYLAND
Darrell Miller, former Capitol Heights mayor, sentenced
January 4, 2012 - 02:18 pm
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Office of the Maryland State Prosecutor says the former mayor of Capitol Heights has pleaded guilty misuse of campaign funds when he was a candidate for Prince George's County Council.
Forty-seven-year-old Darrell Miller entered the plea Wednesday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court.
He was sentenced to two years of supervised probation, fined $2,000 and ordered to perform 300 hours of community service.
Prosecutors say as chairman of his election committee and the candidate, Miller made improper disbursements from the Friends of Darrell A. Miller campaign for personal expenses rather than campaign purposes.
