A former Riverdale firefighter has been charged with arson, police said.
Gerard McBurnie Dixon Jr., 23, of Bladensburg was charged Wednesday with first degree arson to a residence in Riverdale, officials said.
On June 29, 2008 at 3:25 a.m., Riverdale firefighters and other nearby stations responded to a house fire at 4504 Kennedy Street. Personnel arrived to find heavy fire and a firefighter suffered minor burns while battling the blaze.
Dixon was arrested out-of-state by law enforcement officials and is awaiting extradition back to Prince George's County.
If convicted, Dixon could face up to 30 years imprisonment or a fine not to exceed $50,000 or both.
