Golden retriever puppy fatally shot near Middletown
(AP/ABC7) - Frederick County authorities are looking for the person who fatally shot a golden retriever puppy near Middletown.
Animal Control Director Harold Domer tells says that the owners found the 7-month-old dog, named Heidi, dead on their property on Station Road Wednesday afternoon.
“This is just driving me crazy because there is no reason for it,” says Heidi’s owner Lynette Kaufmann.
Domer says three other golden retrievers were found on the property unharmed.
He says the shooting occurred sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Domer says the shooter could face animal cruelty charges.
Kaufmann said she had no complaints about the dogs and hasn’t had any disputes with her neighbors.
Valerie Latchford, a friend who found the slain puppy, said the dog was shot three times.
