Guantanamo Bay rally to close D.C. streets
Some streets in downtown Washington will be closed because of events marking the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Guantanamo Bay prison.
The following routes will be shut down between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.:
• East on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW from 15th Street, NW.
• East on Constitution Avenue, to 1st Street, NE,
• South on 1st Street, NE to the US Supreme Court where the march will disband.
Occupy DC protesters joined other human rights groups at a noon rally at Lafayette Square to demand an end to “torture and indefinite detention at Guantanamo prison.”
After the demonstration, organizers plan to form a human chain from the White House to the Capitol and fast for 10 days.
