Homecoming for Cato June
In a recent trend of big name coaches coming home to help their alma mater, Cato June is returning to run the show at Anacostia High School. The former Indians star running back / linebacker starred at the high school during the 1995-1997 seasons, moved onto Michigan, and eventually to become an all-pro NFL linebacker.
June replaces Terry Dixon, whom he served as Defensive coordinator for, was fired after two seasons after going 1-17.
Back in 1997, June was the All-Met Defensive Player of the Year... Interestingly enough, the 1997 All-Met Offensive Player of the Year Walter Cross will be June's Offensive Coordinator.
Former Wizards coach Eddie Jordan is at his alma mater, Carroll High School coaching the freshman boys basketball team.
June played safety at Michigan, and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 6th round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played four season with the Colts, nabbing a Pro-Bowl bid just in his 2nd year in the league. After Indianapolis, June spent two years in Tampa Bay, before ending his career in Chicago for one season.
