John Delaney files to run for Congress in Md.
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Entrepreneur John Delaney has filed to run as a Democrat in Maryland's 6th Congressional District.
Delaney said Wednesday after filing that he believes his work starting two businesses has given him ample experience to understand how to create jobs.
Delaney, a 48-year-old Potomac resident, is the co-founder and chairman of CapitalSource Inc., a commercial lender. He also founded HealthCare Financial Partners, Inc., which provides financing to health care service companies. HealthCare Financial was founded in 1993 and sold to Heller Financial in 1999.
Delaney, of Potomac, will contest state Sen. Rob Garagiola for the Democratic nomination.
Republican Rep. Roscoe Bartlett is in his 10th term representing Maryland's 6th district. The district, which has historically included western Maryland, was redrawn last year to include a large portion of Montgomery County.
