Joseph Quarm arrested in police shooting incident
Prince George’s Police on Tuesday arrested a man for a shooting involving a police officer.
Joseph Andoh Quarm, 30, was arrested by Prince George's County Police Detectives in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He was charged with Assault and Attempt to Disarm a Police Officer. The involved officer, six-year veteran Police Officer First Class Ebony Richardson, is now on administrative leave in accordance with departmental policy.
The Prince George's County Police Department's Special Investigation Response Team (SIRT) responded to a 911 call by a female over a domestic violence dispute. Upon arrival, police saw Quarm attempting to leave the residence. When questioned by police, he threw a punch at one of the patrol officers and ran towards his nearby parked motor vehicle. Quarm continued to resist police arrest, so police used pepper spray and a taser to calm him as he attempted to disarm one of the patrol officers.
On the scene, one of the patrol officers, who feared for her partner's life, shot at the suspect.
