Daybreak Daily’s afternoon riding of the pop-culture wave finds the people and their choices, other things, and the mystery music video.

UP WITH PEOPLE: There were about a zillion winners in a zillion categories at Wednesday night’s People’s Choice Awards but the biggest winner was the absent Katy Perry, per the AP, “(She) was honored in five categories, including favorite female artist, tour headliner, song of the year for "E.T." with Kanye West, music video for "Last Friday Night" and TV guest star for "How I Met Your Mother." http://apne.ws/yU1JAD

AND SOME PERSPECTIVE: This is a great paragraph; long but good, per the Los Angeles Times:

“Unlike the Grammy Awards, which crafts its list of nominees from a secretive group of tastemakers and music insiders and is therefore suspect by outsiders wondering about the intentions of the committee, Wednesday night's People's Choice Awards offer(ed) no pretense that any nominee is qualitatively better than the others. Rather, the PCAs honor popularity, the tastes of the masses, and offer those same masses the opportunity to decide for themselves which artist is better than the others. It's like being named homecoming king and queen by Wednesday night American network television viewers.” http://lat.ms/zIlA71

URBAN RENEWAL: Country music star Keith Urban and his once-ailing voice are ready to perform again, with a schedule appearance next month at the Grand OIe Opry, per the AP, “(He) had a polyp removed from a vocal cord at Vanderbilt University Medical Center late last year and has been on vocal rest.” http://apne.ws/zHoZnr

LITTLE BRITNEY: She shows off her little kids, per People, “With her tour wrapped and a ring on her finger, Britney Spears is settling back into a quiet life at home with sons Sean Preston, 6, and Jayden James, 5 — and the proud mom has been posting the photos to prove it.” http://bit.ly/AhPDqC

KARDASHIAN ALERT: Ever feel like you’re being manipulated? Anyway, per Radar, “The controversy over Khloe Kardashian's paternity continued growing Thursday, with neither side backing down: While Kris Jenner was on GMA denying Star's exclusive report quoting Robert Kardashian’s ex-wife and widow, Jan Ashley and Ellen Kardashian respectively, the women stood firm behind their claims.” http://bit.ly/wT3O9W

MISS AMERICA: The pageant’s this weekend, and toofab offers a photo gallery of all the contestants. http://bit.ly/zxe71D

HUGE NEWS: Ahem, per E!, “Glee's resident red carpet diva is about to profit from her increasingly cooed-over sartorial style, as E! News has exclusively learned that Lea Michele has been named the newest spokeswoman for Candie's.” http://eonli.ne/xj9V8U

GRANNY AWARDS: Well, there’s Moses, Walton and. . .oh, GRAMMY Awards, per Access Hollywood, “Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars both have six Grammy nominations, including album of the year. And now both acts will perform at the award show. The Recording Academy announced Thursday that Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson will also hit the stage at 54th annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 12.” http://bit.ly/wi4aNN

CUE ALICE’S RESTAURANT: Bring back the draft? Wow, Montel Williams. He offers a theory about the video of U.S. troops and the urinating on the corpses, per TMZ, “"The stresses must be getting to the point that it caused some of this ... why don't we spread out that stress and start making more people put on the uniform and defend this democracy?" http://bit.ly/zevx1L

AND FINALLY: Today’s mystery music video. http://bit.ly/Zfx7d
