Kevin Ray confesses to crimes
The man charged in connection with two home invasions and a sexual assault in Bethesda confessed to the crimes in court Tuesday.
Kevin Darnell Ray told police he started his crime spree after a friend was killed while committing a street robbery in Washington.
Charges filed against Ray, of Fort Washington, in Montgomery County include armed robbery, first degree assault, use of firearm in felony or violent crime, first degree sex offense and third degree sex offense.
Police are still looking for a second suspect who they say was present for last Wednesday's home invasion in Bethesda. They don't believe the second suspect participated in the sexual assault.
Prince George’s County Police charged Ray with the home invasion and sexual assault that occurred in Temple Hills on Friday.
He allegedly confessed to the Temple Hills incident too.
Found and arrested in North Carolina
Ray was arrested in North Carolina on Saturday by Montgomery County Police on a warrant charging him with a litany of crimes in that occurred in Wheaton and Bethesda last Tuesday and Wednesday, including two home invasions, armed robberies and auto theft.
Surveillance pictures of Ray using a victim’s credit card cracked the case, police said. Police believe his victims were random targets and that he used the Metro to travel.
In his mugshot, he is wearing a bandage and has bruises. He attempted to flee when police tried to arrest him, said Prince George's County Police Chief Mark Magaw.
