Linda McCorkle, woman who used kids to rob elderly woman in Md., arrested in New York
Prince George’s County Police say a woman wanted in connection with the robbery of an 84-year-old woman in Langley Park has been arrested in New York.
The U.S. Marshall Service apprehended 48-year-old Linda McCorkle in Harlem on Thursday.
The Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Warrant Squad arrested McCorkle, who was wanted for an Armed Robbery warrant. They coordinated with the New York based United States Marshals Service, who conducted an investigation and found McCorkle.
Pending an extradition hearing, McCorkle will be extradited back to Prince George’s County.
On January 12, police say McCorkle asked the victim to help her to cash a check to care for three small children, who were with her at the time. The victim agreed to drive McCorkle to the bank, but before getting into the car, a second suspect took the kids from McCorkle. Once at the bank, McCorkle implied she had a gun and forced the victim to withdraw cash from her account. McCorkle then forced her to drive her back to the original location where she fled on foot with the money.
Investigators were able to track McCorkle through an anonymous tip and surveillance video from the bank.
McCorkle faces charges of armed robbery and second degree assault.
