Louisa County still feeling aftershocks
LOUISA, Va. (AP) - Aftershocks from last summer's magnitude-5.8 earthquake continue to rattle Virginia.
The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude-3.2 aftershock occurred at 6:39 p.m. Monday 10 miles south-southeast of Mineral, the epicenter of the Aug. 23 earthquake.It was felt as far away as Lake Ridge and Montclair. There have been more than 100 aftershocks since the rare August earthquake that toppled buildings in Louisa County and damaged the Washington Monument and National Cathedral in D.C.
Seismologists tell media outlets that aftershocks can continue for months after an earthquake.
High school and middle school students in Louisa County went back to classes on a normal schedule on Monday for the first time since the August earthquake. Since then, high school and middle school students have attended classes at a middle school on alternate days.
