A man was fatally shot in Northeast early this morning, police said.

At 2:21 a.m., officers heard the sound of gunshots near 58th and Foote streets NE and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Metropolitan Police said.

The man was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

He is identified as David Lee Robinson, 19, of Northwest D.C., police said.

No one is in custody and no other information was immediately known.

Police are investigating the incident as a homicide.
