Medical Center station closed due to track work
All five lines of the Metrorail system will be in some way affected by track work this weekend, highlighted by the closure of the Medical Center station on the Red Line.
As a result of the closure of the station, buses will replace trains between Bethesda and Grosvenor-Strathmore starting at 10 p.m. Friday. Trains will run normally between Shady Grove and Grosvenor and Bethesda and Glenmont.
Single tracking will occur on the other four lines, including on:
-the Orange Line, where trains will share a track in two spots: between East Falls Church and West Falls Church, and between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly,
-the Blue Line, where single-tracking will occur between Braddock Road and Van Dorn Street,
-the Green Line, where trains will single track between Naylor Road and Branch Avenue,
-the Yellow Line, where single-tracking will occur between Braddock Road and Huntington.
As always, Metro encourages riders to add at least 20 minutes to their travel time if commuting through any of these areas. Work is expected to be complete by the closing of the system on Sunday night.
