Montgomery County homicide detectives investigate suspicious death
Montgomery County homicide detectives are investigating a suspicious death in the White Oak area of Silver Spring.
Saturday at approximately 2:49 p.m., police and fire personnel responded to a report of a death in an apartment in the 11400 block of July Drive, according to Capt. Paul Starks, MCPD spokesperson.
A man called and said that his wife was dead. Officers found a woman, believed to be approximately 62 years old, in her bedroom with injuries to her upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 68-year-old man who called is being interviewed by detectives and remains in police custody. He has not been charged, Starks says.
The woman's body will be transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore where an autopsy will determine the cause and manner of her death.
The name of the victim will be released after family members have been notified.
Detectives are continuing to investigate this death.
