MPD investigating homicide in Northwest
MPD detectives are investigating a homicide in the 3300 block of 14th Street, Northwest.
The investigation comes after units from the Third District responded to a call for an assault mid-day on Saturday, January 14. Upon arriving, units located the victim, an adult male, lying on the ground, police said. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital.
The victim died from his injuries on Sunday evening.
The victim was identified as 45-year-old Juan Antonio Paredes of Northwest, D.C. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Wednesday ruled the cause of death in this case as blunt force trauma and the manner of death as a homicide. Additional charges are pending in this case.
A 50-year-old male was charged on Monday with Assault with the Intent to Kill While Armed in this case.
