Multiple shootings reported in Southeast

Police detained two people for questioning in connection with a shooting near Ballou High School in Southeast Thursday morning that left three juveniles wounded. 

Two shooting victims were taken to local trauma centers.

“I think it’s absolutely an outrage that people would be out here shooting in street and especially shooting in front of an elementary school some of these kids could have been harmed,” said Gray.

Sources say the shooting was over a jacket the shooters were trying to steal from one of the victims.

Police Chief Cathy Lanier says the shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. Thursday outside the Congress Heights School in southeast.

Lanier says all three victims are in stable condition and that two people were taken into custody following a pursuit, but that no charges have been filed.

The chief said a gun was recovered, but she did not say what kind.

The shooting scene was spread out, with a victim at 600 Alabama Avenue SE discovered unconscious, while a victim in the  3300 block of 4th Street had a gunshot wound to his leg.

The shooting in the 800 block of Wheeler Hill left the victim with a gunshot in his lower extremities.

Authorities recovered a weapon n the 600 block of Mississippi Avenue.

D.C. Fire officials report the shootings are possibly related.
