Sen. David Brinkley to say if he'll run for Md. House seat
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - State Sen. David Brinkley is ready to say whether he'll run for Congress.
The Frederick County Republican has scheduled a Wednesday afternoon news conference in Frederick to announce his intentions regarding the U.S. House seat held by fellow Republican Roscoe Bartlett.
Brinkley is among several prominent party members who announced possible runs for the seat last month, when it appeared to some that Bartlett was considering retiring.
Bartlett has since said emphatically that he is running for an 11th term. Brinkley is a moderate who runs his own insurance and financial-planning business.
He is in his third term in the state Senate after two terms in the House of Delegates. Redistricting is believed to have made the 6th District more competitive for Democrats in 2012.
