January 10, 2012 - 09:05 pm
A shoplifter jumped onto Metro tracks at Pentagon City in an attempt to evade police Tuesday, causing temporary delays.
About 8 p.m., Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority reported delays on the Blue and Yellow lines in both directions at the Pentagon City Metro Station.
According to police, the man had been caught shoplifting at Nordstrom and ran into the Metro Station. He jumped onto the tracks causing Transit Police to shut down power on both tracks and chase the man into the tunnel.
The man was caught and taken into custody.
The incident was over by 8:25 p.m. and trains were reported to be moving again, with only minor delays.
