WASHINGTON (AP) - Authorities say a District of Columbia police officer arrested in an internal sting operation has been sentenced to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty to a charge of attempting to receive stolen property.
Prosecutors say 31-year-old Silvestre Bonilla was sentenced Wednesday in D.C. Superior Court.
Bonilla and two other officers were arrested last March on charges that they arranged to buy iPads, televisions and other electronic equipment that they believed were stolen.
Bonilla, a seven-year veteran of the department, resigned this week. Another officer, Dioni Fernandez was found guilty last month after a four-day trial.
He is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.
