Steven Allen Cephas sentenced to 15 years

A 22-year-old D.C. man who pleaded guilty in connection with the slaying of his girlfriend’s 20-month-old son was sentenced Friday to 15 years and five months in prison.

Steven Allen Cephas earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of voluntary manslaughter.

Authorities said Cephas was babysitting his girlfriend’s 20-month-old son, Dominic Kingsbury, Jr., in an apartment in the 5000 block of Jay Street NE on Nov. 8, 2010.

Authorities said Cephas beat the child to death.
