Tenleytown street robbery is latest in string of crimes
WASHINGTON (AP) - Authorities say an armed robbery was reported in northwest Washington in an area where 10 other robberies have occurred in recent months.
Police say the victim was approached from behind Monday evening in the 4400 block of Albemarle Street, a quiet street near the Tenleytown Metro station. Authorities say the suspect displayed a handgun and took property from the man before fleeing on foot.
Police say two males standing in the area fled with the suspect.
The robbery comes during a recent increase in holdups in the area.
On Tuesday, Police Chief Cathy Lanier is scheduled to speak about crime at a meeting of the Assembly of the DC Federation of Citizens Associations. The meeting begins at 6:45 p.m. at All Souls Memorial Episcopal Church on Cathedral Avenue.
