UVA student reports abduction
January 31, 2012 - 11:39 am
A University of Virginia student reported that she was abducted Sunday by an acquaintance who refused to let her out of a vehicle.
Police later arrested Jamil Alam on Monday on a warrant for abduction. Authorities also charged him with sending threatening text messages to the alleged victim.
Police reported that Alam, of Sterling, gave the alleged victim a ride from northern Virginia to her residence at the University of Virginia on Jan. 29.
When they arrived at her on-Grounds residence, the suspect refused to let her out of the vehicle and drove to Ruckersville, Va., where he let her out of the vehicle without incident.
