CHILLUM, Md. (AP) - Prince George's County fire officials say two people were rescued from a burning apartment in Chillum.
The fire broke out around 4 p.m. Sunday in a second-floor unit of a three-story building on Sheridan Street.
Firefighters were told that two people were trapped inside the building. One was rescued after being led by firefighters down an interior stairwell.
The other got out by climbing a ladder from a third-floor apartment.
Both were taken to a hospital with possible smoke inhalation.
Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation. Up to nine apartments were left uninhabitable.
