MAP: 2012 Clarendon Mardi Gras Parade street closures
Here’s a chance to celebrate Mardi Gras even if you’re not in New Orleans.
The Clarendon Alliance Mardi Gras Parade will take place Tuesday night along Wilson Boulevard in Arlington.
The family-friendly event begins at 8 p.m. and will feature floats, music and beads.
Street parking will be restricted and the following streets in the area will be affected:
•Wilson Boulevard from Veitch Street to Barton Street will be closed from 6:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
•Adams Street and Wayne Street, between Clarendon Boulevard and Wilson Boulevard, will be closed from 6:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
•Wilson Boulevard. from Barton Street to Irving Street will be closed from 7:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Mardi Gras – or “Fat Tuesday”- marks the last day before the religious holiday “Lent” begins.
Parade attendees are encouraged to use Metro - the Courthouse and Clarendon stations on the Orange Line are located near the parade route.
