Here’s a chance to celebrate Mardi Gras even if you’re not in New Orleans.

The Clarendon Alliance Mardi Gras Parade will take place Tuesday night along Wilson Boulevard in Arlington.

The family-friendly event begins at 8 p.m. and will feature floats, music and beads.

Street parking will be restricted and the following streets in the area will be affected:

•Wilson Boulevard from Veitch Street to Barton Street will be closed from 6:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

•Adams Street and Wayne Street, between Clarendon Boulevard and Wilson Boulevard, will be closed from 6:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

•Wilson Boulevard. from Barton Street to Irving Street will be closed from 7:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Mardi Gras – or “Fat Tuesday”- marks the last day before the religious holiday “Lent” begins.

Parade attendees are encouraged to use Metro - the Courthouse and Clarendon stations on the Orange Line are located near the parade route.
