Babysitter, 16, attacked by intruder in Alexandria
A teen who was caring for two small children was attacked by an intruder at a home in Alexandria Monday night. Officers say the 16-year-old was saved by a cell phone.
Tuesday night, police could be seen patrolling the Archer Court neighborhood.
"It makes me be very observant," said one person.
"We were locking our windows and doors," said another.
About 8 p.m. Monday, a 16-year-old girl was babysitting a baby and a 4-year-old when she heard a loud noise by the front door.
When she went to investigate, she was confronted by a large man with a heavy build, standing inside the home.
Police say the man wrestled the teen to the floor and pinned her to the ground. Seconds later, the teen's cell phone rang. Authorities say the ring scared the man who then fled.
Mary Escobar lives next door and says she's always felt her four kids were safe until now.
Bill Miller says he hopes the man will be found soon, for everyone's peace of mind.
