Basil Knick, 69, killed in crash

A 69-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a car in Reston, Virginia.
On Wednesday about 11:30 a.m., Basil Knick was trying to help a tractor-trailer back out of a parking lot in the 2500 block of Fox Mill Road when he stepped into the street and was hit by a car.
Knick was flown to a local hospital but died a short time later.
The striking vehicle was a 2004 Saturn Vue driven by Darryl Barnes, 59, of Sterling. Bares was traveling west on Fox Mill Road and apprently did not see Knick in the roadway.
He remained on the scene after the crash and was charged with failing to pay full attention.
