Bryce Harper deletes Twitter account
While Bryce Harper's Major League Baseball career is just getting started, @bharper3407 is history.
Yahoo! Sports and CSN Washington's Mark Zuckerberg both report that the 19-year-old outfielder, who is at Spring Training with the team in Viera, deleted his Twitter account.
"I just wanted to," the 19-year-old outfielder told Zuckerberg. "I was done."
The move comes after several of his tweets, mostly about his favorite teams (which apparently included the Duke Blue Devils, Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees), caused blowback from Nationals fans.
Earlier this month, Harper said that it was his goal to make the club's Opening Day roster, saying that it was his job to "keep his mouth shut and play."
