Capital Bikeshare on the National Mall vote set for March 1st
The National Capital Planning Commission is set to vote March 1st on adding five bike stations on the Mall, according to the Washington Post. They will be located starting at the Smithsonian and ending at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial.
If it is approved, one or two stations will be ready to use by the beginning of the National Cherry Blossom Festival on March 20, and the remaining will be ready by the end of the summer, the Post reports.
The suggested locations are at the Smithsonian Metro station at Jefferson Drive; the Lincoln Memorial at Daniel French Drive; Jefferson Memorial at East Basin Drive; Washington Monument at Jefferson Drive; and adjacent to the FDR and MLK memorials at West Basin and Ohio drives.
The National Park Service proposed several of these spots for Bikeshare stations last November.
