Firefighter, child, injured in Silver Spring fire

A firefighter and a child were injured in a small apartment fire in Silver Spring Monday.
Firefighters responded to a first-floor apartment fire at 8240 Flower Ave.
A child was injured as well as a firefighter who suffered minor injuries. They were taken to area hospitals.
The apartment did not have a working smoke alarm. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
No other information was immediately available.
