Kate Middleton, Prince William make Barbie-doll debut for real
Daybreak Daily’s afternoon glance at the pop-culture world finds a very slow news day, Royal Barbie dolls, other things, and the mystery music video.
THIS IS RIPE FOR JOKES: It also begs a question, one that will not be asked here, per InStyle, “Prince William and Duchess Catherine got a Barbie makeover! Mattel is celebrating the royal couple’s one year anniversary with limited-edition wedding-day dolls.” http://bit.ly/xpJpvq
FOR SOME REASON: There’s a huge buzz about this. Not sure why, per the AP, “Comedy Central's "Colbert Report" is off the air and it's a mystery why (although several outlets report a family emergency). An expected new episode of the show was replaced by a repeat on Wednesday. Comedy Central said Thursday's live show will be off, too. The network said it was airing the repeats "due to unforeseen circumstances," but offered no other explanation.” http://apne.ws/wg2ykS
FUNNY STUFF: Bill Maher visited Jay Leno and ‘The Tonight Show’ Wednesday, and he was asked about the GOP race, specifically, Rick Santorum, per the Los Angeles Times, “"He's a little conservative for me. Thinks life begins at erection, this guy," Maher said, prompting high-pitched hyena laughter from Leno.” http://lat.ms/z37lxU
INEVITABLE: You had to see this one coming, per TMZ, “Bobby Brown is about to make a money grab by leeching onto his daughter, the sole heir to Whitney Houston's fortune -- at least that's what Whitney's mom and other family members believe. Family sources tell TMZ ... Cissy Houston is aggressively trying to block Bobby from getting close to 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina, fearing it's just a ploy to line his pockets.” http://bit.ly/zoTj22
AND THIS: And be certain stories such as these will continue their creep, per Radar, “Whitney Houston failed a routine medical check two weeks before she was found dead in a hotel bathtub, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned. The legendary pop singer had sought a facelift to be performed by a Beverly Hills, Calif., plastic surgeon.” http://bit.ly/wzuZJg
BEACH BOYS: Their reunion concert tour includes a June 15 gig at Merriweather, per Rolling Stone, “It kicks off April 24th in Tucson, Arizona, and wraps up August 7th in Lokeren, Belgium - though more dates will likely be added. The tour will hit a large number of outdoor amphitheaters, casinos, indoor theaters as well Jazz Fest and Bonnaroo.” http://bit.ly/AyMkzs
ADELE: A record tied, and a record soon to be broken, per PerezHilton, “Adele's Grammy-winning album, 21, has spent its 20th week at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart when it sold another 237,000 copies over the past few days since the singer's big Sunday night, officially matching it with Whitney Houston's record-breaking 20 weeks at the top with her soundtrack for The Bodyguard in 1992-1993!” http://bit.ly/xfZTfQ
PHOTO SHOOT: Another one. Geez, per Celebuzz, “Lindsay Lohan has no problem flaunting her curves in front of the camera, especially when the photographer is the infamous Terry Richardson.” http://bit.ly/AjNsJN
SAG AWARDS: Just the facts, per indieWIRE, “Next year's 19th Annual SAG Awards will take place on January 27, 2013, at Los Angeles' Shrine Exposition Center. For the eighth year running, the show will be simulcast on TNT and TBS.” http://bit.ly/Azya33
AND FINALLY: Today’s mystery music video. http://bit.ly/bEXbtq
