Lamont Deshawn Terry arrested in 1992 D.C. murder
A 37-year-old man was extradited to the District on Monday after being arrested in connection with a cold case murder that happened at Hains Point Park in 1992.
MPD officials say that Lamont Deshawn Terry, a Columbia, S.C. resident, was arrested on Jan. 20 by a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in connection with the shooting death of 27-year-old Chet Hunter Matthews of Washington.
The shooting happened on May 25, 1992 in the 1100 block of Ohio Drive NW, near the East Potomac Park Golf Course. Matthews died a day after the shooting.
The Associated Press reports that two accomplices to the murder who already pleaded guilty are able to identify Terry as the trigger man.
Upon being returned to D.C. earlier this week, Terry was formally charged with felony murder while armed.
