Man critically injured in Laurel hit-and-run
A man was left critically injured when a pickup truck hit him then fled the scene in Laurel Wednesday afternoon.
At 2:13 p.m., a man was walking on the sidewalk of Route 198 near Route 1, said Laurel Police spokesman Jim Collins.
A white pickup truck traveling east left the roadway and hit the man. The man was thrown over the guardrail and landed in the parking lot of a shopping center.
The man was taken in very critical condition to Baltimore Shock Trauma.
The truck was last seen fleeing east on Route 198 and probably has damage to the right front area. Police are trying to identify both the driver and the man who was hit. The victim is described as having gray hair.
Police said a Metrobus was behind the truck at the time of the crash and may have caught the crash on its dash cam. Police are working with Metro to attempt to locate the bus and view the video.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Laurel Police Department at 301-498-0092.
