Man killed in hit-and-run in Rockville
(ABC7/AP) - Police are searching for a vehicle that struck and killed a man in Rockville and then left the scene.
Police say it happened between about 2:20 and 3:25 on Saturday morning.
Officers responding to a report of a struck pedestrian on Norbeck Road found Alonso Rodriguez, 24, in the eastbound lanes. The person who found the victim attempted to give aid and remained on the scene, police say.
Police say Rodriguez, of the 7400 block of Westlake Terrace in Bethesda, was already dead when emergency crews arrived.
Police say Rodriguez was in a car with two friends early Saturday that stopped along Norbeck Road, near Westbury Road.
Rodriguez got out, the car continued east, and at some point over the next hour Rodriguez was struck and killed by a passing vehicle.
Detectives are asking anyone who traveled along Norbeck Road between Bel Pre Road and Muncaster Mill Road at approximately 3:00 a.m. today to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.
