Man seriously injured in crash in Accokeek
A man was seriously injured in a crash in Accokeek early Saturday.
About 3:30 a.m., Prince George's County firefighters and paramedics responded to a car crash on southbound Indian Head Highway, south of Farmington Road.
A vehicle had crashed into a guardrail, but no one was found on the scene. Emergency personnel searched the surrounding area and firefighters used thermal imaging cameras, but did not find anyone, according to a news release.
Personnel did not find the ignition keys leading some to believe the motorist may have left the scene on his own volition. The vehicle was towed and the scene was cleared after officials searched for more than 30 minutes.
About 8:30 a.m., a man in his 30s approached a citizen on Indian Head Highway near the crash, asked for help and then fell unconscious. The citizen called 911 and medics responded to the scene, the release said.
The man became semi-conscious again and it was determined that he was involved in the crash. He was flown to a Trauma Center in serious condition.
No other information was immediately known.
