Metro track work during off-peak hours this week
Metro riders could once again face delays during off-peak hours this week.
Tuesday through Friday, trains will be single-tracking on parts of the Red, Blue, Orange and Green lines. Work will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and after 8 p.m.
Crews will be doing track work and other much-needed maintenance.
The following Metro lines will be affected:
Red Line
Monday through Thursday evenings, beginning at 8 p.m., trains will single track between Van Ness and Medical Center for NTSB-recommended track circuit replacement, and between Takoma and Forest Glen for fiber optic cable installation. Once work begins, Red Line trains will depart endpoint terminals every 30-35 minutes. Customers should allow 20-25 minutes of additional travel time.
Orange Line
Tuesday through Thursday, beginning at 10 p.m. each night, trains will single track between East Falls Church and West Falls Church for testing associated with the Dulles rail project, and between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory for station platform rehabilitation. Customers should allow about 20 minutes of additional travel time.
Blue Line
Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, trains will single track between Foggy Bottom and Arlington Cemetery for rail, fastener, tie and insulator renewal. Customers should allow 10 minutes of additional travel time.
Tuesday through Thursday, beginning at 10 p.m. each night, trains will single track between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory for station platform rehabilitation. Customers should allow 20 minutes of additional travel time.
Green Line
Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, trains will single track between Southern Avenue and Naylor Road for rail and fastener renewal. Customers should allow about 10 minutes of additional travel time.
