MPD arrest suspect in JaParker Jones transgender slaying

Police have arrested a suspect in the slaying of a transgender victim who was stabbed to death last week.
Killed in the attack was 23-year-old JaParker Jones. Jones was stabbed to death near the intersection of East Capitol Street and Sycamore Road NE.
MPD identified the suspect as Gary Montgomery, 55, of NE D.C. He was taken into custody at about 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Police did not say if there is a relationship between the victim and the suspect.
