A woman is dead after a tractor trailer struck the car she was driving in Bowie.

The crash happened on Route 301 at Harbor Way Thursday.

A tractor trailer traveling northbound on Route 301 hit the woman's car at intersection of Governor Bridge Road, reports say. 

The female driver was reportedly trapped in the car with critical injuries. She was extricated and taken to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Maryland State Police are assisting with the incident.
