Prosecutors want Leslie Johnson to pay $15K fine
GREENBELT, Md. (AP) - Prosecutors are asking that the wife of former Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson to pay a $15,000 fine in full before she reports to prison next month.
Leslie Johnson was sentenced last year to a one year and a day in prison for obstructing an investigation into her husband's corruption.
She admitted to flushing an illicit $100,000 check from a developer down the toilet and trying to conceal $80,000 in cash in her underwear.
The Washington Times (http://bsun.md/A7fIu0) reports that prosecutors claim in court records that she has $170,000 in the bank.
Her attorneys claim that the money is needed for bills and to help sustain her family.
Prosecutors made a similar request over a fine owed by Jack Johnson before he reported to prison, but it was denied.
