It's been more than 15 years since the burgundy and gold played their last game at RFK Stadium.

District leaders have been trying to get the team back ever since and now they may be close.

Neil Glick is one of several community leaders who met this week with the District's deputy mayor for economic development to talk about why.

The 67 acres of land surrounding the stadium hasn't been developed with housing and retail as promised.

Some were told the city is waiting on the Redskins to decide whether or not to move the team's training facility.

But in Ashburn, where the team just built a new indoor practice field, business owners and residents say losing the team would hurt their community.

A spokesperson for the team would only say the team is continuing to explore all of their options.

The possibility that the team could return here to the campus of the RFK Stadium has residents in the neighborhood divided.

As for when a decision is likely, a source close to the negotiations tells ABC7 it could be 30 days it could be six months, but the city is closer than ever in getting the team back.to dc in some way.
