Rico Webb, DeMatha football player, dies
The DeMatha family gathered today to remember - and celebrate - Richard 'Rico' Webb.
Rico was a senior, a football star, who had just recently signed on to play at Alabama State University.
According to a DeMatha official, Rico was with his father watching a basketball game on Friday. Rico said didn't feel well and was taken to the hospital, where he died Sunday morning.
The autopsy revealed that a blood clot was the cause of death.
Listed at 6-foot-7 and 370 pounds, Rico was truly the big man on campus. On Monday, he was remembered as a "Gentle Giant."
Students sang in Rico's honor, hoping to somehow find harmony after losing one of their own far too soon.
