Rockville MetroBus crash video footage released
Authorities released dramatic dashboard camera video footage of a MetroBus collision that left one person dead in Bethesda in December.
The footage shows a pickup truck crossing a median line and veering into a MetroBus on Rockville Pike near Alta Vista Road. The driver is seen swerving before the bus crashes off the roadway.
The driver of the pickup, Nkonou Ayaovi Edorh, 49, of Silver Spring, was killed in the crash. The bus driver, Lennitta L Bryant, 41, suffered serious injuries. Bryant has been with Metro since 1998.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Toyota Tacoma truck was traveling south on Rockville Pike when it collided with a northbound MetroBus, bound for Lakeforest Mall. The bus then left the roadway and hit a tree, smashing the front end.
Bryant was trapped in the bus in the immediate aftermath of the crash. She was taken with serious injuries to an area hospital. Several passengers were injured and taken to area hospitals as well.
One person was airlifted to Baltimore Shock Trauma, three people were taken to Holy Cross Hospital, one person was taken to Suburban and two people were taken with minor injuries to Sibley Hospital.
Three people refused treatment on the scene.
