Snow could make for messy evening commute
There is snow in the forecast for later on today – and it's likely to begin falling during the afternoon commute.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory through Wednesday evening.
Snow could accumulate up to an inch locally, mainly on grassy surfaces with up to 2 to 3 inches farther to the north and west, says ABC7 Meteorologist Brian van de Graaff.
In anticipation of the storm, crews have been out pre-treating highways in Maryland and Virginia.
Transportation officials say they will monitor road temperatures throughout the day and apply more salt if needed.
But with barely over an inch of snowfall recorded for the entire winter season in 2012, some say even the sight of snow is concerning. ABC7 Jummy Olabanji has more on how people are preparing for winter's chill.
