Takoma Park traffic stop turns into police chase, barricades, crash, suspects fleeing on foot
What started as an attempted routine traffic stop by a Takoma Park Police officer turned into a two-county police chase, barricades, a crash, and suspects bailing out and fleeing on foot.
One suspect has been caught. Others are at large, according to a statement from the Takoma Park Police.
It all started at about 1:03 p.m. Sunday when the officer attempted to make a traffic stop. But the suspect driver sped off, trying to outrun the officer.
The suspect was speeding down Sligo Creek Parkway when a police barricade forced the driver to stop. Throwing his vehicle into reverse, the suspect hit the officer’s car.
When the suspect driver and the passengers bailed out, only one was caught, police say.
The pursuit was in both Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties, police say.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
