Tommy Shelton Jr., former pastor, sentenced for child molestation
FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - A former pastor in Virginia has been sentenced to six years prison for child molestation.
Tommy R. Shelton Jr. was sentenced Friday in Fairfax County Circuit Court after entering an Alford plea to molestation charges.
In an Alford plea, a defendant admits that there's enough evidence for a conviction but does not admit guilt.
Two men in 2008 accused Shelton of molesting them in mid-1990s, when he was leader of the Community Church of God in Dunn Loring.
The Washington Post reports that one confronted Shelton at the sentencing. The man has said that Shelton kissed and fondled him and performed oral sex on him.
Shelton professed his innocence at the sentencing hearing.
