Roads open after ink spill on I-95
February 15, 2012 - 11:08 pm
A truck carrying ink overturned on I-95 South at the toll plaza causing a huge spill that tied up roadways.
The crash happened just after 8:30 p.m. stopping southbound traffic at the Fort McHenry Tunnel and halting traffic in both directions of I-895 at the tunnel.
Officials believe the driver of the truck may have been drunk at the time of the accident. The driver was taken into custody.
As of 10:30 p.m., crews believed most of the spill had been contained. The Maryland Transportation Authority Police said Thursday morning that I-895 reopened overnight and that I-95 opened ahead of rush hour Thursday morning, WMAR reported.
