(AP) - A person familiar with the negotiations says third baseman Ryan Zimmerman and the Washington Nationals have agreed to add $100 million over six years to his contract.
Zimmerman also gets a full no-trade clause.
The person told The Associated Press about the deal on condition of anonymity Sunday because no announcement had been made.
Zimmerman already was signed for 2012 and 2013, with $26 million remaining on the five-year, $45 million contract he got at the start of the 2009 season. He's now guaranteed $126 million over the next eight seasons through 2019, and there is a club option for 2020.
Neither the team nor player would confirm that a deal is set. Zimmerman did say Sunday: "We should be able to have something official by later today."
