Alexandria police chase ends near East Glebe Road
A woman suffered minor injuries during a brief police pursuit in Alexandria, police say.
Fairfax County Police say officers responded to the Belle Haven Country Club just after 2 p.m. after there were reports of a woman driving on the golf course. When police arrived, though, the driver left the country club grounds.
Police say the woman then fled after officers tried to pull her over. A brief pursuit followed, which eventually ended near the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and East Glebe Road, about 3 miles north of the country club.
A witness told ABC7 News that they saw the vehicle being pursued driving in the wrong direction and heard a loud bang, after which the suspect allegedly tried to get out and run. The witness said she was then tackled and handcuffed by police.
During the course of the chase, the vehicle being pursued hit a car that wasn't involved in the chase.
