Metropolitan Police officials have classified the March 11 shooting at a Columbia Heights IHOP as an anti-gay hate crime, along with two other attacks on a gay man and transgender woman the next day.

Two persons of interest in the Sunday morning shooting are still at large, and D.C. Police are offering a cash reward for information leading to their location.

The IHOP shooting took place at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday at the restaurant in the 3100 block of Irving Street NW in Columbia Heights. Witnesses say that a fight broke out in the restaurant shortly before the shooting, and one of the victim's family members told the Washington Blade that the two persons of interest continually directed derogatory insults toward the victim and his cousins.

Officials have listed now listed the shooting as a hate-related assault, the Blade says.

The next day, the Blade reports that another gay man and a transgender woman were beaten and hospitalized the next day. The 29-year-old gay man was attacked near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Irving Street NW, and the woman was assaulted later that night near West Virginia Avenue and Mt. Olivet Street NE.
