March 20, 2012 - 04:12 pm
A former D.C. corrections officer pleaded guilty to simple assault in connection with an attack on an inmate.
Darryl Ellison, 51, pleaded guilty on Friday and is set to be sentenced on May 7. He is facing up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Ellison is accused of using pepper spray and kicking an inmate in the buttocks who threw an object at him. After the inmate was on the ground and not resisting, Ellison also administered another dose of pepper spray into the inmate’s face, authorities say.
